PHEDC Boss Decries Poor Reading Culture

ficer of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) Mr. John Abass has attributed societal under development to poor reading culture.
Mr. Abass, an expatriate who made the observation at the launching of the book; 26 Leadership Laws of Transforming the Work Place” by Dr. Godwin .O. Orovwiroro, an Assistant General Manager Customer Service, PHEDC in Port Harcourt, said that no society could develop in an atmosphere devoid of reading.
According to him, a society that encourages reading will produce enlightened men and women who will transform it.
Mr. Abass said that the book would act like a check list to managers of 60th human and material resources and urged staff of the company to develop the attitude of updating their knowledge by reading books.
The PHEDC Chief Executive Officer who commended the author for the book, expressed the hope that it would bring more insights for future leaders of the country.
The South South Zonal Director of Africa Independent Television (AIT) Mr. Barri Pereomongu, who reviewed the book, said that it would meet the expectations of all, especially those entrusted with leadership responsibilities in the society.
Mr. Pereomongu said that the author’s intention was to ensure that those in work places were groomed into leadership positions, as well as improving their entrepreneurial capabilities.
Earlier, the author, Dr. Godwin Orovwiroro described leadership in Nigeria as a challenge, stressing that cotemporary society requires leaders who have been fully equipped to face numerous challenges.
Dr. Orovwiroro explained that the “26 Leadership Laws of Transforming Work Place” would fill the gap created by the dearth of text books in business regulations in the country.
