Kane, Diaz Star For Bayern Against Leipzig
Harry Kane scored on his 100th Bundesliga appearance while Luis Diaz netted a hat-trick as Bayern Munich thrashed RB Leipzig 6-1 to go top of the table.
Goals from Luis Diaz, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Michael Olise put Bayern in control by half-time, before Diaz completed his treble and Kane marked his landmark century with a goal.
Vincent Kompany’s side came into the game off the back of disappointing draws against Augsburg in the Bundesliga and Norwegian side Viking in the Champions League, results that raised questions about their defensive resolve.
But after dropping four points in their opening five league games – as many as they dropped in their first 17 outings last season – the defending Bundesliga champions looked back to their irresistible best as they dominated Leipzig.
In the 12th minute, Diaz ran onto a Joshua Kimmich dink and finished past Leipzig goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, before the Colombian turned provider and teed up Pavlovic to rifle in at the near post.
Olise completed the first-half rout by firing into the bottom corner after exchanging passes with Harry Kane, who had dropped deep to create space.
Half-time offered a ragged Leipzig only temporary respite, as 95 seconds into the second period Diaz curled into the far bottom corner for his second goal of the evening.
Kane soon marked his 100th Bundesliga appearance with his 102nd goal in the competition, tapping in from Nathaniel Brown’s cut-back.
With 20 minutes left to play, Diaz completed a fabulous hat-trick with a right-footed rocket into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Andrija Maksimovic scored an injury-time consolation for the visitors with a fine strike into the top corner.
Bayern registered 17 shots on target before Leipzig managed their first in the 78th minute, and would have scored more had Vandevoordt not made 11 saves.
Borussia Dortmund’s goalless draw with Union Berlin earlier on Saturday means Bayern spend the night top of the table with 14 points, though Freiburg will go two points clear if they beat Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Next up is a Champions League meeting with Arsenal at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, 21 October (20:00 BST).
Leipzig’s Jekyll and Hyde start to the campaign continues; they find themselves seventh in the standings after three home wins and three away defeats.

PSG’s Stars Show Class Over Strasbourg
Paris St-Germain extended their winning run in all competitions to six games as they came from behind to win at Strasbourg.
Luis Enrique changed eight players of the team that beat Manchester City 4-2 in the Champions League.
And the rotated team fell behind after Giovanni Reyna’s deflected shot ended up in the back of the net.
Enrique brought on five of his stars in the second half and they helped turn the game around.
Ousmane Dembele crossed for Illia Zabarnyi to score the leveller – but Ballon d’Or holder Dembele then put a penalty wide.
However, the Frenchman put them ahead with five minutes to go with a low driven effort from 16 yards out.
And Desire Doue added a third in injury time from Ferran Torres’ ball.
Having been 13th in Ligue 1 after three games, the victory takes PSG to the top of the table ahead of their rivals’ weekend matches.

La Liga: Barca Remain Invincible, Beat Betis Away
Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo all scored for Barcelona as they swept aside Real Betis in a seven-goal thriller to stay five points clear at the top of La Liga.
In a thrilling end-to-end encounter between two sides in this season’s Champions League, Real Betis played the final 40 minutes with 10 men after Facundo Bernal was shown a red card for an off-the-ball incident.
Nine days out from the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards, teenage contender Lamine Yamal opened the scoring with a sensational effort from outside of the penalty area. After a clever ball roll and flick to shift past an opposing defender, he fired a ferocious strike past Betis’ Alvaro Valles.
Hosts Betis levelled less than 20 minutes later when former West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals saw his cross headed in by Valentin Gomez.
Barcelona re-took the lead before half-time as 2024 Ballon d’Or-winner Rodri headed in a Fermin Lopez corner. It was Rodri’s first goal for Barca since joining them in the summer from Manchester City.
Betis were left frustrated at half-time. Former Tottenham midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso’s long-range half-volley found the back of the net, only for the goal to be disallowed for a handball in the build-up. That infringement took place around 15 seconds before Lo Celso’s strike, but was deemed to be in the same phase of play.
Having seen a goal ruled out for offside seconds earlier, Jesus then gave Barcelona a 3-1 lead after a brilliant passing move. Jesus only had to turn the ball into an empty net when teed up by Lamine Yamal from close range.
Betis immediately clawed a goal back through Abde Ezzalzouli, converting at the end of a blistering counter-attack.
After that goal went in, a melee broke out which saw Bernal and Lamine Yamal clash. After grabbing the Barcelona forward, Bernal dug his head towards him and was dismissed.
Barca did restore a two-goal advantage through Garcia, joining fellow ex-City players on the scoresheet. Following a blocked Lamine Yamal free-kick, defender Pau Cubarsi squared the ball to Garcia to convert from close range with Betis unable to clear their lines.
Substitute Dani Olmo added a fifth in the final 10 minutes with a clever finish from the edge of the penalty area.
Three points for Hansi Flick’s side was their 11th win in as many games in all competitions this season. They sit five points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga and nine points clear of Real Madrid, who have played a game fewer.

Flamingos Begin U-17 World Cup With Loss
Nigeria’s Flamingos began their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Poland in their opening Group B match at the Women’s Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday.
Poland took the lead in the 33rd minute, when Wiktoria Skrzypczak converted a penalty to give the Europeans a 1-0 advantage at half-time. The Flamingos returned for the second half hoping to find an equaliser, but Natalia Skrok doubled the lead in the 66th minute, which placed Nigeria under greater pressure as they chased the game.
Oluebube Umejiaku pulled one back in the 79th minute, scoring Nigeria’s only goal, but her effort was not enough to prevent defeat.
The result leaves Nigeria level on zero points with Puerto Rico at the foot of Group B, while Poland and defending champions Korea DPR lead with three points each. Korea DPR, four-time winners of the competition, opened with a 6-0 win over debutants Puerto Rico, with Yu Jong-Hyang and Kim Won-Sim scoring twice each.
The Flamingos arrived in Morocco as WAFU-B U-17 Girls’ Championship winners. They won all five matches in Ivory Coast last month, scoring 17 goals and conceding just once, and beat Togo 4-0 in the final. They qualified for the World Cup by beating Benin in the final round of African qualifying.
Head coach Akeem Busari named a 21-player squad, and the team landed in Morocco on October 7 to prepare. Captain Harmony Chidi led the attack after scoring five goals in the qualifying campaign and three more at the WAFU-B championship.
Poland reached the tournament by beating England 2-0 in the UEFA play-off, with midfielder Zofia Burzan scoring both goals. She also scored four goals at the European U-17 Championship, and Poland reached the quarter-finals on their debut at the 2024 edition.
Nigeria are making a ninth appearance at the competition, and their best finish is third place in 2022, when they beat Germany on penalties in India to win the third-place play-off.
The Flamingos face Puerto Rico tomorrow, in what is now a must-win game, before a daunting meeting with Korea DPR on Friday.
The tournament has 24 nations and runs until November 7, and the top two teams in each group and the four best third-placed teams reach the Round of 16.
