Pensioners Call For Pension Commission In Akwa Ibom
The Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Akwa Ibom State Council has appealed to the government to establish pension commission or board in the State.
The Chairman of the union, Comrade E.d. Ekpo stated this during the South South zonal meeting in Uyo.
The chairman said, if the commission is established, all problems facing pensioners in the State would be solved as there would be easy flow of information between government and pensioners.
He called for the implementation of the Federal Government’s circulars for improvement of pensioners’ welfare as the current earnings of pensioners are not implemented in the State.
The South South Zonal Chairman, Comrade William Selepere said government should try and assist pensioners as they are dying on daily basis and should not pay deaf ears to the issue.
He commended members for their massive turn out to make sure they deliberate positive issues and the way forward where government should address the lapses for the benefit of pensioners not to experience suffering and hardship without dying untimely.
