Step Aside, Warri Wolves Tell Coach
The management of Warri Wolves FC has told Coach Jolomi Alli to step aside after the club suffered a 4-1 defeat to Inter Lagos FC, yesterday, at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan.
The defeat was the heaviest suffered by the club in recent years.
The Seasiders had vowed to win the tie in Lagos to brighten their chances of securing a ticket to the elite Premier League at the end of this season.
Chairman of Warri Wolves, Nevile Ambekederemo, told Tidesports source on saturday, after the match that he had instructed the coach to step aside till further notice.
“I have asked him to step aside till further notice. I have communicated the decision to the Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa. His assistant, Austin Johnney will take over pending the appointment of a new coach,,” he stated. The sacked coach Jolomi had joined Warri Wolves from Akwa United in October, 2022.
Before the trip to Lagos, the Seasiders were in the sixth position on the table.. Governor Sheriff Oborovwore had recently settled the club’s financial problem, and was looking forward to a good performance from the team.
Warri Wolves setback began just before the Christmas break, when they lost at home to visiting Giant Brilliars FC at Kwale Stadium.
Warri Wolves next match will be against Gateway FC on January 28 at the Kwale Stadium, and on February 3, they will confront Trade Safe FC in Lagos.
