Monarch Lauds Fubara’s Songhai Farms Revival Move
The Eze Gbakagbaka, Eze Oha Evo III, King Leslie Nyebuchi Eke, has extolled the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, over his pragmatic moves to rehabilitate the Songhai Farm in the Ogoni axis of the State.
Eze Gbakagbaka, who gave the governor kudos when he spoke in an interview with newsmen at his palace in Woji, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, yesterday, said such was a clear indication of the governor’s intention to take the State to its expected position in the comity of states in the country.
According to him, there would not have been a better way to promote one’s State than get things of value fixed.
He said the farm will upon full operation, provide job for Rivers people and others, including the host community.
The Evo apex King noted that agriculture is the in-thing now across the globe and described the governor’s move as timely.
“Every government and people the world over now take steps towards agriculture. Food security can only be guaranteed when agriculture is at its best”, he said.
The monarch also called on the people of the State to do away with all forms of unpatriotic attitudes towards government-owned properties capable of causing high level of set back.
He said when this happens, rather than creating new ventures or initiatives, government will consider rehabilitating old projects killed at the instance of the people.
The planned Songhai Farm revival, the Eze noted, “will go far in healing the ailing economy of the country given its potentials”.
He used the opportunity to also appeal to the Governor to revisit the suspended employment recruitment exercise at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in order to assuage the suffering of the people.
