CEAPOLY Plans Expansion Of Annual Rector’s Competition
The Rector of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Port Harcourt Dr. Moses Neebee, says the institution will expand the annual Rector’s competition through the inclusion of more sporting events .
He said this Monday while declaring opened the 2023 Rector’s competition of the polytechnic.
Neebee said beginning from next year, some other sporting events  such as table tennis,  lawn tennis,baseball and other events will be added to the competition.
According to him,it would nolonger be football only, adding that the institution will give opportunity for students who are not good in football to also develop their talents.
He said the competition has been on for more than 20 years.
The Rector who said football improves mental fitness urged the players to bring in their best for the game.
He also stressed the need for participants to see the event as a way of developing their talents, adding that the watch word should be fair play.
Neebee said the competition has led to the discovery more talents, noting that some of those who participated in previous competitions are making the nation proud.
Also speaking chairman of the School Sports Committee, Dr  Daye Barango said all departments were taking part in the competition.
According to him,a total of 19 departments were taking part in the competition and commended the Acting Rector for his committeed to sports Development.
He said the competition was on knockout basis, and noted that next year’s competition will be better than this year as more sporting events will be added to it.
Three games were decided on Monday.
The opening march between Department of Business Studies and its Enviromental counterparts ended 4-0 infavour of Business Studies.
