Group Salutes Fubara, Others On Assumption Of Office …Drums Support For Quality Governance
A frontline non-governmental organisation in Rivers State, the Opubo Progressive Association (OPA), Ndoki Chapter, has commended the successful election, swearing-in, and assumption of office by Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, saying the combination is a sign of better things to come for the State.
They also lauded the assumption of office of all candidates who contested and won their various elections in the last election in the State.
In a statement in Okoloma-Afam, Oyigbo Local Government Area of the State, signed by its President, Engr. Solomon Diri, Secretary, Mr. Dagogo Jaja, and Public Relations Officer, Diepirinye Brown, shortly after her National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the group called on all to live up to the expectations of Rivers people.
The group, in the statement, also called on all aggrieved opposition candidates and Nigerians to shun bickering, hate speeches and name-calling, and rather join forces with the Fubara-led administration “to build-better, prosperous and united Rivers State, in line with the dreams of the founding fathers of the State”.
Describing Sim as the “Joseph of 21st century Rivers State”, the group urged the Governor to ensure that he picks persons of similar development-mindedness in order to be in better stead as his team of technocrats to effectively carry out the onerous task ahead in the next four years.
While assuring of their support for the government, as true sons of the State, the group also called on every Rivers person to “see the present government as our government, and be ready to contribute their quota at all times”.
