Speaking at a training held for Mathematics teachers and titled, ‘A legacy of endless impact: The Bunmi Adedayo Foundation 1,000 maths teachers empowerment initiative,’ the Executive Director of the Foundation, Miss Olukemi Odedeyi, said, “Given the critical roles of teachers in the education sector. It is hoped that this programme will enhance the quality of mathematics education in public and private primary schools, ultimately improving the overall quality and standard of education in Nigeria.”
She explained that the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation unveiled a programme to train 1,000 mathematics teachers across Ogun, Osun, and Delta States, saying it was done in collaboration with the three state governments, the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, and the State Universal Basic Education Board.
Odedeyi added, “The aim of the subject-enhancement programme is to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to perform effectively in the classroom. The first phase of the programme was recently held at Abeokuta Grammar School in Abeokuta, with 350 teachers from public and private primary schools in Ogun State in attendance.”
Odedeyi also acknowledged the Board of Directors of the Foundation, Mr and Mrs Adedayo, saying that the Foundation was a legacy of the late Bunmi Adedayo, who was an advocate for quality education during his lifetime.
The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Femi Majekodunmi, noted that the training would provide opportunities for teachers to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge. Majekodunmi advised the participants to share their newly acquired knowledge with their colleagues.
