Minister Appoints New NIS Registrar
Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare, has approved the appointment of Mr. Belmond Benson of Adamawa State University, Mubi, as the new registrar of National Institute for Sports.
The letter of appointment, signed by NIS’ Director-General, Professor Olawale Moronkola, reads: “Further to the letter, dated April 5, received from the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, I have the mandate of Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, to convey to you approval to appoint you as the Registrar of the National Institute for Sports, Surulere, Lagos for a five-year single tenure with effect from the date you assume duty.”
The letter said the appointment was based on Benson’s successful performance at the job interview held on March 15, 2023 at the conference hall of the Institute in Lagos.
Prior to his appointment, Benson held the positions of acting registrar, senior deputy registrar, deputy registrar, principal registrar and head of establishment at the Adamawa State University.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State and a Masters degree from Adamawa State University, Mubi.
Benson, with a working experience spanning 25 years, succeeds Mr. Musibau Adeneye, who retired from the institute on March 6, 2023 after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
