COHISA Old Students Donate 200 Desks
County High School, Ahoada (COHISA), Old Students Association on Wednesday donated 200 desks to enhance learning standard of the premier college at Ahoada in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Old students also inspected the Old and new school buildings, and lamented the high level of vandalism in the school by hoodlums.
While handing over the new desks to the school Principals (Junior and Senior) the protem Chairman, Dr Eugene Esor, said since 2021, the Old students body has been nursing plans on how to give back to their alma matter.
He stated among other things that last year they came up with the idea of giving the school a face lift, including provision of sitting material, adding that desks were so fundamental to institutions of learning.
“Last year we started a new drive in order to standardise the school, while members were making personal donations, one of us, Hon. Dr Innocent Mebiri, through an organization, was able to facilitate the construction and delivery of these desks”, Dr Esor explained.
The Chairman noted that as Old students, they were desirous to contribute their quota to better the lots of the famous school.
He, however, advised the students to protect the school’s property.
Responding, the school Principal (Senior), Mr Friday Ifeanyi Nwoko, on behalf of the school and parents thanked the Old students for the gesture.
He urged them to maintain the tempo, and decried the level of theft in the school, asking the Old students among other things to also direct their attention to security in order to save the properties in the school, promising that the desks would be properly utilised.
