Speaking at the event, the Assistant Coach of the association in the State, Mike Anieoku, expressed deep shock over the death of Tom-George, saying that he was the only athlete in that heavyweight category (80kg).
“We are in deep pain as we lost one of our most committed and dependable athletes in the association.
“Tom-George had represented the State in so many competitions, the most recent being the NSF held in Edo State where he won silver as he could not fight in the finals following injury he sustained during one of the fights.
“It will take us a long time to fill the vacuum his death has created because he was the only heavyweight in Kung Fu, on 80kg in the State”, Anieoku said.
