Polytechnic Wants Increase In Monthly Subvention
The management of Ekiti State Polytechnic has asked the state government to increase its monthly subvention to the institution to enable it recruit more academic and non-academic staff to meet the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation.
The Rector of the polytechnic, Professor Johnson Adesodun, made the call during a matriculation ceremony for students admitted for the 2021/2022 academic session at the campus, Isan-Ekiti.
He advised the matriculating students not to engage in nefarious activities which could distract them but to face their academics.
Professor Adesodun said the students would be trained in a way they would be able to contribute to national development.
Meanwhile, Isan revealed that the institution has started attracting support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to ensure speedy infrastructural development.
Professor Adesodun said the fund received from TETFUND would be judiciously utilized to make the institution conducive for academic activities.
The Coordinator of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Ekiti State, Abdulhameed Akeem, said the institution had witnessed more development since its establishment two years ago.
In separate interviews, some of the Matriculants, including Oyeyemi Imisioluwa, Olaleye Toluwalope and Akpa Victor, expressed happiness for gaining admission into the polytechnic, promising to follow the laid down rules.
A total of 57 students matriculated to pursue various courses in Accountancy, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering and Agricultural Technology.
