NSIP: Minister Charges Monitors On Effective Service
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mrs Sadia Farouk, has charged the Stream 2 Independent Monitors for the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) on effective service.
Farouk gave the charge on Wednesday during the flag-off of onboarding training of the 24 participants of Stream 2 Independent Monitors for the NSIP in Port Harcourt.
Represented by the Team Lead for the training, Mrs Itoro Duku, the Minister stated that the programme was created in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration with the mandate of alleviating poverty in the country.
Farouk stated that Rivers as one of the benefitting states is expected to achieve the core mandate of the President in poverty alleviation.
According to her, stream 1 of the programme had 4452 Independent Monitors trained across the country in February and March 2021, while 3000 monitors is expected to be trained across the country this year for stream 2.
She stated that participants would be given a tablet phone and engagement letters as their work tools for their job after the training and advised them to use the resources to work effectively after the training.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of Rivers Women Affairs Ministry, Mrs Uche Uriri, urged the participants to pay attention to the training and make good use of the opportunity.
Uriri said the training would give them edge over other Nigerians that were not opportuned to benefit from the programme.
She applauded the Federal Government for the Initiative of the programme.
One of the trainees, Mr Godwin Jumo, from Tai Local Government Area, appluded President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative and urged Nigerians to embrace the programme.
Another participant, Ijeoma Nwadibe, said she would use the tools effectively to achieve the aim of the programme.
Nwadibe appealed to Federal Government to continue with the programme to alleviate poverty in the country.
