Lawyers To Enjoy Seamless Stamp Delivery System
Candidate for the position of General Secretary in the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) election, Mr Desmond Yamaha, has promised Nigerian lawyers a seamless stamp delivery system, if he wins the election.
Yamah said this in a statement made available to lawyers and obtained by The Tide’s source in Port Harcourt.
He said he will guarantee a seamless process of stamp delivery system that will be purged of all bottlenecks.
According to him, his administration will provide no room for formal applications for lawyers’ stamp.
“Lawyers, after payment of Bar Practice Fees (BPF), need not apply formally for stamps as this causes administrative bottlenecks resulting in avoidable delays”, he said.
He hinted that stamps will be produced by the National Secretariat on the confirmation of payment of the BPF and released in batches through registered courier companies to the branches.
Accordingly, he said, the NBA Branches will in turn, release same to members on confirmation of the payment of Branch dues, thereby reducing the stress associated with the system.
The NBA General Secretary candidate also promised all lawyers the availability of their stamps on or before the 31st day of March of every year.
He noted that the process may delay at least for a week for those who pay on 31st March of every year.
“This is one of my plans. I promise a tech savvy secretariat amongst many things, if elected to the position of the NBA General Secretary”, he said.
The Tide gathered that the NBA National Elections will be conducted on Saturday, July 16, 2022 electronically.
