Fubara, Not Green Horn In Politics -Ogolo
National Coordinator of Rivers Equity, Elder Clapton Ogolo, has said that the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State is not a green horn in politics.
Ogolo said this in an interview with The Tide shortly after a courtesy call on the State Chairman of the PDP, Amb Desmond Akawor in his office in Port Harcourt.
He also described the PDP flag bearer as a democrat.
“The PDP flagbearer is a democrat. Like I always tell people, he is a politician that speaks the truth. He has been the Leader of Opbo/Nkoro PDP for over two years now, so he is not a green horn in politics. He is a peaceful man”, he said.
Ogolo noted that Fubara is a man whose capacity has been built in development and administration, saying, “he knows politics, and has ability to build a peaceful state.”
The Coordinator said Fubara is also one who believes in continuity and sustainability of people-oriented governance.
“So, if you look at these two, you will know he has been there from the time of Peter Odili, through Chibuike Amaechi, to Governor Nyesom WIke. That means he knows how things have been going”, he said.
According to him, the group is embarking on sensitisation to all institutions, communities on three major issues which are sustainable development, peace and the capacity to building the institution.
Noting that the use of violence during election has to be stopped, he said, “We had to build a capacity to sensitise them. Getting the PVC is not the only issue. After getting it, people must also know that the era of violence is over.”
Ogolo said the sensitisation will be taken to all communities in the State, including market places.
Also speaking, an elder statesman in the State and also a strong member of the group, John Pascal Nalley, said the group stands for justice, adding that now that vote will count, the group is reaching out to the unreached in the state with the message that with the amended Electoral Act, votes must count this time.
He said the group is mobilizing two million youth to sensitise the people to go for their PVCs.
