Church Gets Accolades For Supporting Bible Society
The Christ Army Church of Nigeria has been praised for its constant cooperation and support to the Bible Society of Nigeria.
The Church, which is the first indigenous Christian Church in Nigeria, established in 1816, was also commended for its commitment in terms of raising members for the society.
Chairman, Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, disclosed this while addressing the church during the 2022 Bible Week celebration at the Christ Army Church of Nigeria, St Paul’s (St Garrick Braide) Cathedral Supreme Headquarters, Bakana in Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Ayo-Tamuno stated that among other churches in the three Kalabari Local Government Areas – Asari Toru, Akuku-Toru and Degema – the Christ Army Church of Nigeria, Bakana, has the highest number ofspecial members.
The Chairman attributed this feat recorded to the passion of the Presiding Archbishop of the Church, Most Rev. Ibiba Siri, who on a yearly basis creates awareness for membership enrolment.
He declared that “If all Denominational Church Heads, in Rivers and Bayelsa States, and indeed, Nigeria put on even 50 per cent of the efforts by Most Rev. Siri’s commitment to the society, its aims and objectives will be achieved with little or no stress”.
Ayo-Tamuno further added that “members of the church and the ministers have demonstrated a high level of dedication to the society which exists to complement the efforts of the church in its evangelistic outreach with the written word of God”.
He also specifically lauded the Presiding Archbishop of the church for his support to the successful completion of the Kalabari Language Bible translation.
Responding, Most Rev. Siri assured that the church would continue to support and cooperate woth the society in season and out of season.
Siri announced that five members of the Cathedral, which include the Mother of the Church, Mrs Itokiniba I. S. Yellowe, aged 82 years, had completed the membership form to be Special Member, the highest category of membership in the Society.
