Viral Video On PVC In Drainage Sparks Outrage …INEC Urges Security Agencies To Take Action
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured discreet investigation into the viral video on the alleged discovery of “thousands” of permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) in a drainage system in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The commission, therefore, said that security agencies have been directed to investigate the viral video to determine its authenticity and take every necessary action to restore confidence in the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC said this in statement signed by its Administrative Secretary, Richter Alabraba, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, yesterday.
The statement, titled: “Alleged Discovery of “Thousands” of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) around Riumuodara axis of Obio/Akpor LGA”, was made available to The Tide, yesterday, in Port Harcourt.
The statement read: “The viral video on social media showing “Thousands” of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) allegedly discovered in a drainage system within Rumuodara axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, refers.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State wishes to inform the public that the viral video on the above issue has been reported to the Nigeria Police, and other security agencies for investigation, and further action.
“The outcome of this investigation will also be made public once concluded.
“The commission will continue to work with the security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians to preserve the integrity of the electoral processes”, the statement added.
