Dakkada May Escape Relegation After Beating City Rivals
Dakkada brightened their hopes of beating the drop after claiming bragging rights in the Ibom Derby with a 3-1 triumph over city rivals, Akwa United, in a match-day 34 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Akwa started the game the better side, with Leo Ezekiel feeling he had grabbed the game’s curtain raiser but his effort was ruled offside.
The deadlock was however broken in the 39th minute, after the impressive Adams Yakubu made a run down the flank and connected with James Arong, who in turn found Samuel Amadi to score the game’s opener.
But Akwa’s lead didn’t last long as, Dakkada equalised through Etido Dan, off an assist by Friday Bright, in the 42nd minute.
Dakkada grabbed their second goal in the 54th minute, after Akwa failed to clear their line, and Aniekan Ekpe scored with the assist from Edidiong Ezekiel.
Dakkada then sealed off the game with their third goal in the 87th minute, after Israel Emmanuel’s pass found Ezekiel and the striker finished off perfectly for the relegation threatened side.
