Four Dead As Gunmen Invade LG Chairman’s Residence In Ebonyi
Four persons have been confirmed dead in an attack on the residence of the Chairman of the Ikwo Local Government Council of Ebonyi State, Chief Steve Orogwu, by unknown gunmen.
The casualties include the chairman’s 75-year-old elder brother, his two sons and a security guard.
In a statement signed by the Special Security Consultant to the state government, Chief Stanley Emegha and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, yesterday, the state government condemned the act in its entirety.
Describing the act as most barbaric and unfortunate, Emegha regretted that the incident occurred at a time when the state was being celebrated as the most peaceful and economically vibrant state in the country.
According to him, the perpetrators of the act undermined the image of the state and ideals of the people by committing the despicable act.
“The act is barbaric and unfortunate and the state government condemns it. It is regrettable as it is coming at a time when the state is celebrated as the most peaceful and economically vibrant state in the country.
“It is sad that the perpetrators of the evil act did not project the image of the state in a good light nor did they represent the ideals of the people”, he stated.
Emegha said that the state government would leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice, disclosing that surveillance has been mounted on the area and other parts of the state.
He, however, said that normalcy had since returned to the area as more surveillance has been mounted in the area and parts of the state.
