The command, in a statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the deployment was to ensure that people celebrate Easter in the state peacefully.
The statement read, “The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Friday Eboka has ordered massive deployment of personnel across the state to provide adequate security before, during and after the 2022 Easter celebration to ensure protection of all residents in the state and the success of all activities lined up to mark the celebration.
“He ordered the deployment of men to all worship centres, celebration venues and other resort centres by all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders under strict supervision to stop mischief makers from causing any form of mayhem for law abiding citizens. In all, a total of 3,532 personnel have been deployed from the command for the exercise.
“He equally urges members of the public to be law abiding and continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminalities by reporting any suspicious person/movement as he assured the command’s commitment to providing security, maintenance of law and order in protection of lives and properties in the state.
“The CP on behalf of officers and men of the command wishes the good people of Rivers State a hitch free Easter celebration,” the statement added.
