Young Media Entrepreneur Unveils Ogoni TV In PH
Young Nigerian media entrepreneur and 2019 finalist of the BBC Komla Dumor Award, Mr Ndume Green, has officially unveiled a new indigenous TV Channel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The 2019 Fellow of the Tony Elumelu Foundation carried out the unveiling of Ogoni TV last Saturday at the Camp David Event Centre in Port Harcourt.
Speaking to The Tide after the event, Mr Green said “I thank God for the journey so far. It has been a very long one getting here and challenging too. The massive turnout here today has simply crashed the perceived notion that Port Harcourt won’t support the idea”.

Speaking further on his plans ahead, the Ogoni-born entrepreneur who also unveiled Capital TV alongside said, “We are starting online right away with a plan to go satellite before the end of the year. We are here to tell the African story in a way that is different. Our contents would be centred on Africa’s shining lights rather than its dark sides which have been the delight of the global media over the years and has seen them invest billions of naira on such contents across the continent over the years”.

According to Green, Ogoni TV is a pet project which he started with the Late Ken Saro-Wiwa (Jnr) in 2016 mainly about the indigenous stories of the Ogoni people and the Niger Delta.
The renowned investigative journalist also revealed a broader plan of other brands under the Capital Group which will include business chains in Cinema, Film-Making, a media Hub named Wakanda Media Foundation set to train at least 1,000 African story tellers every year.
The event attracted dignitaries from far and near including the former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Gbene Joi Nunieh; President, Port Harcourt Polo Club, Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa; member representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency in the House of Repreentatives, Rt Hon Dum Deekor; Chairman of Gokana Local Government Council, Hon Confidence Deko; former Chairman of Tai Local Government Council, Hon Gideon Deemor; among others.
