Lagos Closes Dockyard Road For Railway Project
The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion at Apapa Dockyard Road in line with the Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project (Lagos-Ibadan section) with extensions to Lagos Port at Apapa.
The government said it would divert traffic flow at Apapa Dockyard Road from 6:00pm on Sunday, 23rd of January till 6:00am Monday, 24th January, 2022 for maintenance works on the Level Crossing.
Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde, in a statement said the maintenance works were vital to keep the rail track in proper condition to ensure safety of the commuting public.
Explaining the traffic diversion plan, Oladeinde stated that a counter flow would be created on the lane that is free when rehabilitation work is ongoing on the other, to enable motorists ply the route and reach their desired destinations without much difficulty.
He urged road users to comply with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, to minimize inconveniences that may be experienced while the construction lasts.
“Lagos State Government is hereby appealing to residents of the State, especially motorists, to cooperate fully with the interventions made available to ease traffic flow, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless Multi-modal Transport System that will provide viable options for movement and subsequently meet the transportation needs of a larger population,” he said.
