13 Brigade, Calabar Gets New Commander
Brigadier General Everest Okoro, has resumed as the 56th commander of the 13th Brigade, Nigerian Army Calabar.
Brig. Gen. Okoro takes over from Major General Peter Malla following his promotion and subsequent transfer to head the Department of Army Administration at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army in Abuja.
Report said that during the farewell address at the Brigade’s Conference Room, Gen. Malla applauded the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya for his unique leadership style and support for the Brigade. He also thanked the General Officer Commanding 82 Division including officers and Soldiers of the Brigade for their support during his tour of duty. He enjoined them to remain disciplined and cooperate maximally with the new commander.
In his Inaugural speech Brig. Gen. Okoro commended Gen. Malla for his meritorious service to the Brigade and Nigerian Army at large, he promised to keep the flag flying while deliberate efforts would be made to fill the huge shoes left behind.
The handing and taking over ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army Akim Barracks Calabar.
The Outgoing and Incoming Commanders took turns to sign the handing and taking-over notes before Brig. Gen. Okoro was decorated with the Brigade Insignia.
Highpoint of the event was the handing over of Commander flag, hoisting of new Brigade flag, and final inspection of quarter guard by the outgoing commander.
