CP Seeks Monarchs’ Support For Smooth Ports Operations
The Chairman of Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council and Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja says he is proud of the effort of the current Police Commissioner, Eastern Ports Command Mrs Evelyn Peterside to return peace to the Eastern Ports.
King Jaja made the commendation when the commissioner of police Eastern Ports command, paid him a working visit in his office in Port Harcourt.
The Chairman said he was highly elated with the record of achievements of Mrs Peterside in the Nigerian Police especially her efforts to return peace to the Eastern Ports of the Nigeria Ports Authority .
He used the opportunity of the visit to call on the Federal Government for the revitalisation of the old Opobo Port which, according to him, will open up business activities within Port Harcourt to Opobo.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Eastern Ports command, Mrs Evelyn Peterside had said that she was in the office of the state Council of Traditional Rulers to intimate him of teething challenges facing her and her posting to Rivers Port , headquarters of the Eastern Ports Command which comprises Onne, Calabar and Warri Ports as the 11th Commissioner In-charge of the Eastern Ports Command.
Mrs Peterside said her meeting with stakeholders and consultations with communities had helped to reduce incessant protests and encourage peaceful operations and facilitated the ease of doing business and operations at the various ports of the Eastern zone.
She called for the support of the Traditional Rulers Council in the Niger Delta to enable government return activities in the Eastern Ports to its maximum capacity.
The female Ports Police Commissioner added that people of the Niger Delta deserve the best in terms of maritime business in Nigeria as the headquarters of oil and gas operations in the country.
She appealed that all hands should be on deck to enable normalcy return to the Eastern Ports in the country.
