LG Boss Regrets IOCs’ Refusal To Employ Eleme Youths
The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Hon. Obarilomate Ollor has expressed displeasure over the attitude of multinationals operating within Eleme cosmopolitan area when it comes to employment of the youths.
He made the assertion when the Executive of KAGOTE led by its President, Hon Emmanuel Deeyah paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his first 100 days in office.
Expressing readiness to initiate policies that would ensure companies keep up to their responsibilities, the Eleme Council boss, however, lamented the poor treatment and attention given to Eleme people by the myriads of companies situated within the area.
According to him, lack of job, skills and vocational training of the teeming youths by the companies results in increased criminality and heightened insecurity suffered in the area in recent past.
He said, “Honestly, we are not satisfied, you see our people wallowing in poverty in the midst of plenty. For us, what we are doing is to put up a control system where we can have proper coordination between the people and the establishments in order to forestall any crisis because we are at the verge of having serious crisis between our people and those who are supposed to be supporting them for economic growth and development”.
He appreciated the leadership of KAGOTE for identifying with Eleme, maintaining that he would give the body every necessary support to succeed, adding that the emergence of KAGOTE has made the voice of Ogonis to be unanimously heard.
“I want to thank the leadership of KAGOTE for identifying with us, it is a very noble organisation, respected and top-notch in the coordination of issues of Ogoni, we are a part of the leadership and the system, we believe that the cohesion we have today would be able to take our people to the expected destination they desire”, he noted.
On his part, the President of KAGOTE, Hon Emma Deeyah, thanked the chairman for availing them audience, and congratulated him on his success at the polls, which according to him, has brought light to the people of Eleme in such a short period.
He commended the chairman for prioritising security and making Eleme a safe haven for investors.
Deeyah said, “We came here on a courtesy call on the council chairman, to congratulate him and to share our ideas and visions, and we found out that he has a lot of programmes on ground.
“We acknowledge the fact that Eleme is the hub of the petroleum industry in Nigeria, and you cannot do business in an unsecured place. So, credit must go to the chairman for keeping the peace. We are also commending him for the various programmes he has articulated and implementing in just 100 days. So, we are expecting a lot more from him.”
He declared confidence in the capability of the current crop of council chairmen in the four LGAs to deliver democracy dividends for Ogoni people, assuring them of KAGOTE’s willingness as a group to give them support wherever it was needed.

Forum Expresses Confidence In APC Candidates’ Performance In Rivers
The State Coordinator of the forum, Archbishop Lucky Aroh, made this known during a breakfast and thanksgiving meeting held in Port Harcourt, where leaders gathered to pray for the stability of the party and the safety of its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.According to him, the meeting was convened to seek divine intervention for peace, unity, and security among APC candidates across Rivers State.
“Today we are praying for APC stability in Rivers State and the security of our candidates that have been elected to contest the 2027 elections. It is a breakfast meeting,” Aroh said.
He further expressed optimism that the party’s candidates would not disappoint the people if entrusted with leadership responsibilities.
“They will not fail when elected into office. We are here as fathers of the land to let them know, and I must tell you the truth that these are the authentic people that will do well in Rivers State,” he added.
Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of the forum, Professor Olanrewaju Abraham, commended the Rivers State chapter for organizing the programme, noting that the national body of the forum believes strongly in the power of prayer.
He stated that political leadership provides an opportunity to influence society positively, including advancing moral and spiritual values, while expressing confidence that APC candidates at all levels would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Women Leader of the APC, Hon. Darling Amadi, praised the forum for its commitment to prayers for peace, stability, and the protection of party candidates.
Represented by the Deputy Women Leader of the party in the state, she described the initiative as commendable and urged other political and support groups within the party to emulate the gesture in promoting unity and stability.

Fubara Commended For Sustaining Peace In Rivers As Sirawoo Receives Democracy Day Recognition
The awards, which formed part of activities marking Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12, were formally presented on Tuesday at the Ministry of Information and Communications in Port Harcourt.
