Onyeka Reveals Admiration For Kante
Brentford’s Nigerian midfielder, Frank Onyeka, has revealed that Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is his favourite player in the Premier League.
Onyeka, who joined Brentford from Midtjylland in Denmark last month, has already made a big impact in the English top flight, starting for the Bees in both their 2-0 win over Arsenal and a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend.
The 23-year-old Super Eagles player said he is trying to model his game on Kante’s, pointing out the Frenchman’s tenacity.
“He’s so different,” Onyeka told Sky Sports. “Technically he’s not so good, but he wins a lot of ball going into duels, and he’s so small. That’s the kind of my own playing style.”
Kante has become known as arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world, winning Premier League titles with both Leicester City and Chelsea, while last season he gave a masterclass in the final of the UEFA Champions League to help the Blues upset Manchester City.
Onyeka added that he’s happy to be playing in the English top-flight: “This is a dream come true. This is what every player wants, to play in the Premier League,” he explained.
“For me, it’s one of the greatest achievements as a football player.”
Onyeka is set to feature for Brentford again this weekend when they face Aston Villa in Birmingham on the afternoon of Saturday 28 August.
