Bizman Plans Vocatonal Centre In Rivers
Worried by the increasing wave of social unrest and youth restiveness in the society, an Edo State based business man, Buduka Sunday Otishi, has mulled plan for a vocational centre in Rivers State.
Otishi who hails from Ochiba in Ahoada East Local Government Area said during his 50th birthday celebration that the proposed centre is part of his decision to give back to the society for all that he has gained.
He said the centre will enable the youths acquire necessary skills that will help them to be useful to the society.
Otishi said because of the absence of white collar jobs, most youths have resorted to fetish and illegal way of making money.
According to him, the vocational centre when established, will make them to be creative and have entrepreneurship experience that will enable them to create and make money for themselves without waiting for government or anybody to employ them.
“They are things that can make you grow better. So I said I want to select some youths that will be taught vocational skills and basic accounting skills so that they can be financially independent,” he said.
He further said that some grants will be given to beneficiaries at the end of the programme to enable them start their own business.
Otishi who blamed the increasing wave of violence among youths on laziness and idleness, added that most of them are waiting for jobs that do not exist.
“People don’t need to wait for government. You can empower yourself. If the youths are not empowered, people cannot enjoy their money, we want everybody to be useful and then move to guarantee peace,” he said.
The philanthropist also said he has reached out to a number of people who are willing to support the porgramme, including the Commissioner for Youth in Rivers State who also promised government support.
