Police Kill Robbery Suspect In Sapele, Delta
Police in Delta State killed a suspected armed robber in a gun duel in Sapele on Saturday.
Police spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, told newsmen yesterday in Warri that the suspect, known as Diamond or “Fowlboy’’, was member of a three-man gang terrorising residents of Amukpe Community in Sapele.
Bright said that the Divisional Police Officer, Sapele Division, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, received a distress call on Saturday that robbers were operating in the house of a resident in Amukpe.
“Nwabuisi immediately detailed patrol teams to the scene in conjunction with vigilantes. On getting there, the armed robbers engaged them in a gun duel.
“Fowlboy’’ was gunned down during the duel while others escaped with bullet wounds, he said.
He said, items recovered from the suspect were one cut-to-size locally made gun, a military camouflage cardigan and seven cell phones.
Bright said efforts were being intensified to arrest fleeing members of the gang.
