Agbim Eulogises Keshi On Home-Based Legacy
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim has eulogised the home based legacy of late coach Stephen Keshi in the national team five years on, following his demise from the world to the great beyond.
Agbim, who rose to prominence among the many home-based professionals in the Super Eagles under the stewardship of the former national team handler stressed that things haven’t been the same for homebased players in Nigeria with regard to being handed level playing ground to stake claims for opportunities in the national team of Nigeria.
He revealed that Keshi’s rememberance draws tears from him any time he reflects on the stint of the big boss with the national team with an AFCON triumph and a third place finish at the CHAN and a round of 16 appearances at the world cup in 2014.
“I always remember him, this is 5 years ago and after that no home-based have had that privilege after Stephen Keshi to be in the national team. So I think that is one thing you should remember him for. He gave every home-based team a privilege to be in the national team and after that no homebased have been in the national team for now. So I’ll always remember him for that and I weep every time I remember that he is gone because he gave every homebased that opportunity.”
