Rivers United Players Rue Missing Out On N2m Largesse – Aguda
Rivers United striker Godwin Aguda has revealed the regrets of players of Rivers United after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Enyimba which ensured the team missed out on the largesse of 20million naira being promised to the team by the state Governor with a demand to win outrightly in Aba the first leg CAF Confederation cup playoff round fixture.
Aguda speaking in a chat with Tidesports said it was a painful loss to the team considering the financial promise that would have accompanied a win had they achieved one in the fixture.
He however added that the players have shifted focus now to ensuring that they get things right in the second leg in Port Hacourt, when they play host to Enyimba this coming weekend.
“It was a very painful one, most especially when we got a motivation like that which would have at least by this time left us smiling and laughing that we have small money apart from our salaries and other bonuses, it was a very painful one for us not to get the job done because we went into that game with every belief and confidence to get the job done in Aba.”
