Woji Community Reads Riot Act To Criminals
The traditional institution in Woji Community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State says it will not spare any one caught involved in criminalities in the community.
The Paramount ruler of Woji Community, Eze Emeka Ihunwo read the riot act at a one day security summit in the community.
Eze Ihunwo who declared the summit open, also called on the police not to yield to any pressure from any quarter to release suspected criminals in the area.
The Woji monarch also stressed the need for the companies operating in the area to support the fight against crime and criminalities in the community.
The traditional ruler listed some of the efforts made by the community to support the security agencies in the area in crime fighting to include; the purchase of KVA Generator to the Woji Police Division, repair of police vehicles as well as the purchase of 12 pieces of tyres for the Division.
Eze Ihunwo also stressed the need for the police to beef up their operations against crime and criminalities in the state.
Meanwhile, the summit has directed all streets in Woji community to form vigilantes, while some of the streets which are yet to have a security gate should do so without delay.
It said members of the vigilantes must be screened by the police while all security gates must be manned by security guards.
The summit which also warned non indigenes residing in the community against changing the names of streets, also urged for more funding for the police.
It called on the people to cooperate with security agencies by giving useful information as security cannot be left to the police alone.
In their various speeches both the Divisional police officers of Woji, Ekpeta James, and representative of that of Mini Okoro, Emmanuel Lifu, warned against keeping late night.
