Sports Journalist Launches Book, Next Week
A book which chronicled events that happened a thousand games and watched live by a veteran and versatile sports journalist in Nigeria, China Acheru, titled “A thousand Times on Same Road,” is set to be launched next week.
The author of the book, China Acheru, said what inspired him was a question asked when he celebrated his 1000 games watched live two years ago.
Acheru said this in a chat with Tidesports, yesterday, that journalists do not write enough in an event, especially things that happened behind the scene.
According to him, the book was written to be a reference point, mostly for sports journalists in the country.
“What inspired me to write this book was when a journalist asked me after my celebration of 1000 matches watched live, what next? So I decided to put down my experiences I got in every game.
You are aware journalists do not write enough stories in a match, mostly the ones that happened behind the scene,” Acheru said.
He explained that the book which is about 300 pages, should be taken as an archive that can be referred to at any moment and was not intended to discredit and malign anybody,
The veteran sports journalist said one of his greatest challenges while writing the book was what story to leave out or to put in, because the stories were enormous.
He used the forum to advise journalists all over the world particularly sports journalists, to always keep records to give their reporting more credibility.
