Bendel Insurance Beats Stationery Stores 2-0
Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin at the weekend defeated visiting Stationery Stores FC of Lagos 2-0 in a week five fixture of the 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Daniel Johnson scored a penalty kick in the 40th minute to put the Insurers in the lead, while Imade Osarenkhoe extended the lead in the 57th minute.
Speaking at a post-match conference, Bendel Insurance FC’s Coach, Greg Ikhenoba, commended his players for ending the year with a win.
“This win has further increased the club’s chances of gaining promotion into the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),’’ he said.
Also, the coach of Stationery Stores FC, Shakiru Giwa, blamed the match’s referees for his players’ loss.
“My players did a great job, but the referee was against them,’’ Giwa said.
He added that he would now go to the drawing board to re-strategise his plans.
