PH To Host First Fruit Festival In Africa
Barring any change in programme, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, will emerge the first City in Africa to host a fruit festival.
The event tagged: “Fruit Festival Naija”, is slated to hold from the 13th to 14th of December, 2019.
The President, “Fruit Festival Naija”, Mr Terry Ighosotu Ege, who said this during a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, indicated that Port Harcourt will become the first city in Africa to host the festival.
Ege said activities lined up for the festival will include; fruit fashion show, stage show and carnival/ road walk.
He said the initiative was to provide and improve the first intake of Nigerians, adding that it is a celebration of good health.
The President said the courtesy call was to seek for collaboration with the Rivers State Government with a view to ensuring the success of the forthcoming programme.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary said he is delighted to see young people coming up with ideas and initiatives to improve society.
Nsirim said Port Harcourt being the first city to host the festival in Africa, is something to be celebrated, adding that the situation was in line with the ongoing advocacy campaign of ‘Our State Our Responsibility’.
The Permanent Secretary noted that the upcoming event also shows that Rivers State is safe for investment, stressing that Governor Nyesom Wike’s investment in security has turned the state into an investors haven.
