FRSC Mobilises Education Officers On Public Relations
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Sokoto State Zonal Command, has embarked on repositioning of education and public enlightenment officers to ensure effective and efficient public relations activities in the zone.
Dr Kayode Olagunju, the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, disclosed this on Thursday in Sokoto at a public relations training programme for FRSC Education and Public Enlightenment Desk Officers in the zone.
Olagunju, who was represented by zonal Head of Operations, Mr Muhammad Yakubu, described public relations officers as critical to FRSC activities aimed at safeguarding lives and properties on the roads.
He urged them to embrace the use of modern information technology tools on advancing their skills on information gathering and dissemination.
The ZCO further urged them to properly utilise the advantages of present social media platforms and conventional media houses around them in propagating safety habits on roads.
He enjoined them to educate people on the importance of abiding by road regulations, dangers of flouting laws, vehicles safety use, provision of road and vehicle instruments and road signs for safer driving.
Olagunju said FRSC had designed road safety education initiative for Almajiri Islamiyya schools in Sokoto state aimed at improving road safety knowledge among coming generations.
According to him, the initiative is targeted at safeguarding the vulnerable Almajiri school students as well as other children in order to minimise accidents involving children.
“This will go a long way in protecting the innocent children from being part of road accidents at various stages of our road.
“Moreover, the safety initiative is part of the commission’s commitment toward protecting citizens against auto crashes and minimises its associated risks,” Olagunju said.
