Commissioner Tasks Wike On PH Decongestion
A Commissioner in the Rivers State Post Primary Schools Board, Port Harcourt, Hon. Okere Ndubuisi, has called on the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to prioritise the decongestion of Port Harcourt City in the second term of his administration.
Hon. Ndubuisi said the call become necessary due to the overcrowded conditions in the area, adding that the hike in accommodation rents in the state was as a result of the overcrowded nature of the state.
The Commissioner made this assertion while speaking with journalists over the weekend at a rally organized by the people of Oyigbo Local Government Area to celebrate the victory of the state governor at the just concluded gubernatorial elections in the state.
He advised the state government to focus its urban renewal developmental programmes in the next dispensation to other areas like Oyigbo, Igbo Etche among others, adding that these areas are suitable locations for such decongestion programmes.
He attributed the harsh traffic condition faced in the state by the people as a result of the congestion condition of the present Port Harcourt City, adding that opening up Oygibo Local Government Area would linkd the state to the eastern parts of the country and reduce the burden of accommodation hike in the state.
“As the governor gets set to continue on delivering superlative infrastructural development, I know he would consider Oyigbo which is more a commercial area, as one of the areas to decongest as a way of transforming the state for the good of all citizenry.
“I join the loving people of Oyigbo in describing the re-election of Barr. Nyesom Wike as governor of Rivers State in the just concluded 2019 gubernatorial election as the best to happen to the state”.
“I was not surprised over Governor Wike’s landslide victory at the poll, having seen the way the people had turned out in their large numbers to vote overwhelmingly for him”.
Hon. Okere posited that the overwhelming supports accorded to the governor and all PDP candidates was a true attestation that over 80 per cent of Oyigbo people want him for the second term in office because of his unbeatable record of accomplishments in office.
