Report On Black Soot Ready, Soon – Commissioner
The Rivers State Commissioner for Environment, Prof. (Mrs) Roseline Konya has said that the report on the black soot is ready and will soon be submitted to the state government.
Prof. Konya who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt also assured of the implementation of the report by the government.
She said that the report has taken into consideration the levels of soot, stressing that implementation of the report will end the issue of soot in the state.
Meanwhile, residents of Port Harcourt City and environs have commended the its state government for the on-going dredging of the Interwoba creek.
Across section of residents who spoke in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt described the dredging as timely, especially as the rainy season approaches.
Speaking, Prince William Chinwo said that the dredging activities should not be limited to the Interwoba creek alone as all the cannels across the city must be dredged to ensure the free flow of water.
Chinwo also called on residents of the city and itsenvirons to embark on deserting of gutters and drainages in their vicinities.
Also speaking, Mr. Steven Obodoekwe called on the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) to be tough on those who dumped refuse indiscriminately.
According to him, anyone caught should be dealt with in accordance with the law.
