Women’s Entrepreneurial Spirit: How They Struggle To Survive

From time to time, we hear successful moguls recount the story behind their glory, how before they began running multi-million-dollar companies, they were flexing their entrepreneurial skills by selling lemonade on a corner, building gadgets in their garage or even trying out their hands on needle and thread with their kids’ apparels.
Although it could be said that behind every successful individual in life, is a kid who grew up knowing he/she was born for business, but recent contacts have proven that even where people grew up not conscious of their relationship with business, they simply covet the spirit and before you know it they are starred in the business arena as budding entrepreneurs who later turn successful moguls.
Apparently, both those who were believed to have been born with business blood in them and the ones that learned to grow their business overtime, are distinguished from others by the mere confidence in themselves to dare the prospect of failure head-on and have the determination to come out on top.
This singular trait emboldens them to set an idea in motion, ride the highs and lows from humble beginnings to ultimate success.
For Pamela Ochei Fatogun, a graduate of Accounting, nothing could have popped up the entrepreur in her, more than her crave to be financially relevant to her home. Although a civil servant as she professed, Mrs Fatogun fathoms everything that could render her highly supportive to her family so as to cushion the visible effect of her meager pay at the end of the month.
In her insatiable appetite to start up a money generating venture, Pamela, who had fallen in love with skin care right from her days in the university, said she has come up with the concept of Onyinwa-FAB House where her passion for skin care could be showcased.
In an interview with the women editor of The Tide Newspaper, Sylvia ThankGod-Amadi, Mrs Fatogun revealed that her quest into make-over art explosed her to various skin blemishes, especially the ones caused by harsh chemicals. This has thus led her into the production of Face and Body Scrub.
The Scrub according to her, is purely nature’s own as all the ingredients are naturally sourced, with honey constituting a major ingredient used basically for anti-ageing effect, pimples and acne.
Her words” I tried it on my skin for a whole year, gave to my friends to test for free and they all came back with good result so I decided to go into full production.
Stating that she puts up photos of those that sampled her product on her watsapp status and face book where she also advertises the product, she expressed shock at the patronage that greeted her first commercial outing.
Pamela may not have started raking in her millions of naira at the moment, but she is positive in her thought and quite optimistic that she would make it. She believes that every challenge in life is an opportunity and having the ability to adapt, is one of the greatest strenghts an entrepreneur can have.
She calls on women to follow their passion even if it falls outside their supposed career. “I think that is a better way to make money” she said. Because she feels that knowledge is better gained and eternalized when transfered to others, she welcomes calls for training and contracts for her products.
Talking about possible conflict in her career job and the part time engagement, Pamela said “Not burden-some at all, I enjoy it. Besides, I do it on weekends with the assistance of my kids and that makes it a lot easier.”
