Lawmakers Seek Votes For Wike
Assembly members in the Rivers State South-East Senatorial District played host to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign train in their local governments during the week under review.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani received the governor and PDP campaign team last Monday at Ngo, headquarters of Andoni Local Governemnt Area, while the member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, Hon. Adonye Diri played host to the governor and his entourage on Wednesday last week.
Rt. Hon Ibani who is seeking re-election under the platform of the PDP has commended the state governor for his vision towards transforming the state through infrastructure development .
He had hailed the governor as a visionary leader who has the interest of the state at heart, stressing that in the past four years, the State has witnessed unparalled transformation in all sectors.
The state House of Assembly speaker reiterated that the good works of Chief Wike has confirmed him as the only choice for Rivers State, as he assured of more works in the second tenure.
On his part, member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, Hon Diri stated that the people of the area are enjoying massive infrastructure development, especially the Ogoni/Andoni/Opobo Unity Road that has made it possible for the people to drive into Opobo main town.
Hon. Diri called on the people of Opobo/Nkoro to massively vote Wike who he assured would ensure more infrastructure and manpower development in the area.
The lawmaker listed some of the projects sitted by Wike to include, the Opobo General Hospital, renovation of the secondary schools, the RSG/EU water scheme and the Unity Road among others.
In the same vein, lawmakers from Obio/Akpor Constituency I and II played host to the PDP Campaign last weekend during the rally held at open play ground at the Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola.
The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaewhule and Hon. Michael Chinda said the people of the area are ardent supporters of the PDP and therefore were confident that the party would triumph at the polls.
Hon. Amaewhule, while urging the people to come out en-masse and vote for the PDP, reasoned that is one way to sustain the tempo of development ongoing in the area.
On his part, Hon. Chinda assured that the PDP is unbeatable in Obio/Akpor and the state in general. He praised the governor for the unprecedented infrastructural development in the constituency.
Both Amaewhule and Chinda are seeking re-election under the banner of the PDP for the March 2nd elections are optimistic of winning, the polls to consolidate their seats.

Tinubu Increases Ambassador-nominees to 65, Seeks Senate’s Confirmation
President Bola Tinubu has increased the number of Ambassador-nominees to 65 and forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation.
The president’s request, read in plenary Thursday by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, consists of 34 career ambassadors and High Commissioners as well as 31 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners.
The Presidency had last week released the names of 32 ambassador-nominees, featuring names of some prominent Nigerians.
Notable nominees among the non-career ambassador-nominees are: Sen. Ita Enang from Akwa-Ibom, Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo) and Sen. Folasade Bent (Adamawa) and Segun Ige (Edo)
Three ambassador-nominees, namely: Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa) and Ayodele Oke (Oyo), earlier forwarded to the senate, had been screened by the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The new nominees had consequently been forwarded to the committee for screening within one week.
The full list of the ambassadorial nominees per state reads: “Ezenwa Chukwuemeka (Abia), Maimuna Ibrahim (Adamawa), Monica Ogochukwu (Anambra), Mohammed Lele (Bauchi),
Endoni Sindo (Bayelsa) and Ahmed Mohammed Monguno (Borno).
Others are Jane Adams Michael (Cross River), Clark Alexandra (Delta), Chimma Davies (Ebonyi),
Oduma Ehinose (Edo ), Segun Ige (Edo), Adeyemi Emmanuel (Ekiti), Onaga Kingsley (Enugu) and Magaji Umar (Jigawa).
Other nominees in the category of Career Ambassadors are Mohammed Dahiru (Kaduna), AbdulSalam Zayat (Kano), Shehu Barde ( Katsina ), Aminu Nasiu ( Katsina ), Abubakar Musa-Musa ( Kebbi) ,Mohammed Idris ( Kebbi) ,
Bako Adamu Umar (Kogi).
” The rest are: Sulu Gambari (Kwara), Ramata Mohammed (Lagos), Shaga John Shama (Nasarawa), Salau Mohammed (Niger) and Ibrahim Danlami (Niger).
Others are: Adeola Mopelola (Ogun),
Ruben Samuel (Ondo), Akand Adekola (Osun), Adedokun Esther (Oyo), Gedagi Joseph (Plateau), Luther Ayokalata (Rivers), Danladi Yaku (Taraba) and Bello Dogondaji (Zamfara).
Names on the list of the 31 non-career ambassadorial nominees are Sen. Grace Bent (Adamawa), Sen. Eta Enang (Akwa – Ibom), Nkechi Okocha (Anambra ),
Mahmood Yakubu (Bauchi), Philip Ikurusi (Bayelsa).
They include Paul Oga Adikwu (Benue), retired Vice Adm. Ibok Ibas ( Cross River), Abasi Braimah (Edo) and Erelu Adebayo (Ekiti).
Others are: Olumilua Ayotunwa (Ekiti),
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Mrs. Chioma Ohakim (Imo ), retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Kano State).
