Monarch Pays WAEC, JAMB Fees For Indigent Students
The Eze-Egi III of Ogbaland, His Royal Majesty, Prof. King Anele Uzondu Nwokoma, has advised prospective students of Egi clan to take their academic pursuit with all seriousness, as that is a meal ticket for their future.
King Nwokoma gave the advice when he presented cash gifts to different categories of students to offset their WAEC, JAMB and first semester fees for undergraduates.
According to the Egi Monarch, “the money I am giving today may not solve all that is required for your registration but it would go a long way to assist you.”
“My greatest joy will be, when you come back to tell me your success stories in the examinations, which will also attract more assistance”.
The Royal Father said, he was moved to assist the indigent students because of the belief that the best way to reduce criminality in the clan was to assist youths who were willing to pursue educational ambitions.
He disclosed that during a recent town hall meeting held at the clan’s headquarters, Obite, “ I Promised to sponsor 32 indigent students to write the WAEC examinations, 16 for JAMB and four who had already gained admission into Universities pay their first semester school fees”.
The traditional ruler stressed the need for the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously, pointing out that they would gain nothing and by extension destroy their lives, if they joined cultism to become deviants in the society.
Also speaking, Eze Richard Eke, Ochi-oha of Itu 11, described the Eze-Egi’s gesture as first of its kind in Egi land.
Eze Eke remarked that Egi was witnessing a new dawn and called on wealthy and philanthropic sons and daughters of the area to key into this laudable venture which the Egi Monarch has kick started.
