NDYC Condemns Onnoghen’s Suspension
A political pressure group, Niger Delta Youth Coalition ( NDYC ) has condemned the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Presidency.
NDYCs National Coordinator, Prince Emma Ogba made the condemnation in an interview with our correspondent yesterday in Port Harcourt, saying it was a decision taken in a haste.
According to the coordinator, there was nothing to show that due process was followed in handling the matter.
Ogba expressed surprise that Mr President disregarded order of Appeal Court and chose to obey order of the CCB saying that amounts to insult on the nation’s judicial system.
He expressed worry that the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari, has again brought another embarrassment to the nation before international community.
Ogba advised the presidency to withdraw the suspension order on the CJN, Walter Onnoghen and allow investigation on the case take its due course.
He noted that with the presence of Prof Osinbajo , an authority in law, such embarrassing situation ought not occur.
Ogba who also decried imbalance in major appointments so far made by ,President Buhari, adding that such imbalance in favour of the north has portrayed the President as atribalistic leader.
“We are not in support of corruption, but our stand is that due process should always be followed in handling such matters.
“ Removing Walter Onnoghen in fragrance disregard to the rule of law only to replace him with somebody from the north in amidst obvious imbalance in appointments is wrong and unacceptable”.
He said Nigeria desires a president that who is father to all and who sees all parts of the country as one in the scheme of things, but regretted that Buhari is a disappointment to those who believe in the spirit of one Nigeria.
