Driving School Associations Merge In Rivers
For easy administration of driving school activities in Nigeria, the Association of Driving School Instructors of Nigeria (ADIN), an Association of Certified Driving School Owners of Nigeria (ACDSON), Rivers State chapters have merged under one umbrella body called Driving School Association of Nigeria (DSAN).
The merger was in line with the directive of the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi that by January 1st, 2019, both associations should come together to form a common front and ensure standardisation.
The Zonal Commander, Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Kinsley Aguma disclosed this while receiving the new body at FRSC Headquarters in Port Harcourt who were on a courtesy call to the zonal and state commanders of FRSC led by its Chairman, Hon. Broun Ikurayeke, recently.
Aguma Opined that the Merger would help stop all forms of irregularities associated with driver’s license processing and half-backed drivers on the road.
He charged them to come with programmes for partnership between the government, that is the FRSC and the association both at the zonal and state levels, and promised to visit the driving schools in the state for inspection to ascertain that they met the minimum required standard of operation, adding that he would partner with DSAN for professionalism and sanity in the industry.
The zonal commander Commended the new executive committee for their understanding and their zeal to ensure safe driving and quality training to reduce road crashes in the state.
Earlier, the Deputy National President, South-South of Driving School Association of Nigeria (DSAN), Mr Agidi Shola highlighted how the two association’s came together and presented the newly formed executive to the zonal commander, and Promised to abide by the regulations.
In his response, the state Chairman of Driving School Association of Nigeria (DSAN), Hon Broun Ikurayeke promised to bring all the genuine operators and members to a tripartite objective in order to foster smooth relationship between the FRSC and DSAN, to fight to its bearest minimum or to completely eradicate certificate racketing as well as to promote professionalism in the industry and assured that he would also run an all-inclusive administration for the benefit of all members.
