APC, INEC Planning To Rig Polls – Wike
Last week, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike led the state PDP campaign train to six local government areas of the state.
The local government areas covered were Ikwerre , Abua/Odual , Ahoada East, Ahoada / West , Asari-Toru and Khana.
At Saint Martin’s Anglican Church field, venue of PDP rally for Ikwerre Local Government Area, last Monday, the governor blamed the youths for the unemployment in the country, saying that they voted in APC , a party that does not understand what national economy means.
He enjoined them to vote for Atiku Abubakar for president to make a turn around because he has experience on economy, business and wealth creation so that there would be mass employment for Nigerian youths.
Wike urged the electorate to protect their votes to prevent APC from rigging the 2019 general election.
He gave the charge while speaking at County State School Abua Central, venue of the Abua/ Odual PDP rally held on Tuesday.
He said: “ APC are afraid because they know that Atiku Abubakar will win fair and square. Therefore, they are planning to use security agencies and INEC to rig. It will not work.
“ The only way to ensure that Atiku Abubakar and all PDP candidates emerge victorious is to protect all votes from the polling units to the collation centres”.
Governor Wike also accused the APC-led Federal Government of totally neglecting the oil-rich Niger Delta region
He made the accusation at Akinima during the Ahoada West rally on Thursday. Wike stated that even though Niger Delta produces the wealth of the nation, there is no funding of projects in the area.
“ Look at the East-West Road, no serious attempt has been made to fund the project. All other projects in the area have been abandoned “, he said.
He charged the people of Ahoada West to vote for Atiku Abubakar so as to address the developmental challenges of the Niger Delta.
Wike declared that President Muhammadu Buhari spent his failed time in government struggling to generate security crisis in Rivers State because he was not interested in the growth of the state.
Making the declaration Wednesday during the PDP campaign rally for Ahoada East Local Government Area, the governor disclosed that for about four years President Buhari deliberately refused to grant any request for assistance from the Rivers State Government.
He announced the award of contract for the constructions of Government Secondary School, while work on the Western Ahoada County High School would be completed before the election.
He further announced that the process for the sitting of the two faculties of the Rivers State , University in Ahoada is on track and that the project has been included in the 2019 Budgect.
At KNC Buguma, venue of Asari Toru PDP campaign rally held on Friday, the Wike disclosed that Flag Amachree of APC was in a meeting where they planned to destroy INEC offices in some local government areas in the state.
According to the governor, the evil plan would make INEC not to hold election in the state as planned.
Wike also drew attention of lovers of democracy and the international community to an open threat by one Odili of APC in Rivers State that elections would be stopped from holding in the state because INEC obeyed court order to delist candidates of APC in the governorship election.
On Saturday at the PDP rally in Khana Local Government Area, Wike accused the Transportation Minister and leader of APC in Rivers State of harbouring hatred for the Ogonis by stopping their son from becoming a governor of the state and also for removing a prominent son of the Ogoni from a top position which he occupies in the NDDC.
He called on the people of Ogoni to vote out APC to end the frustration of growth of the area b APC – led Federal Government.
Apart from PDP campaign rally that dominated events in Government House Port Harcourt, last week, Governor Wike hosted the United State of America Ambassador to Nigeria on Wednesday ad well as the National Executive Council of ,International Federation if Women , Lawyers who were in Government House Saturday on a courtesy visit.
He also attended the Mega Crusade of Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta North Thursday at Capt. Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola.

Alleged Smear Campaign Against Yakubu, CSOs Demand Apology From Uzodimma

During a press conference held in Owerri, the coalition called the campaign a “dangerous and shameful display” designed to distract the public from the governor’s performance in office.
The CSOs directly linked the Greater Imo Initiative (GII) —the group that made the allegations on September 4, 2025—to Governor Uzodimma, describing the group as his “mouthpiece and attack dog.”
“Every word spoken against INEC was spoken on his behalf.
“By falsely alleging that Professor Yakubu has an alliance with Dr. Amadi to compromise the 2027 elections, Uzodimma has not only maligned a man of proven integrity but also assaulted the very foundation of our democracy”, said Dr Agbo Frederick, speaking for the coalition.
The coalition described Professor Yakubu as a “beacon of electoral professionalism” and called the attempt to soil his reputation “defamatory and a national security risk.”
They also defended Dr. Amadi, a “respected development scholar,” stating that the governor’s accusations were “laughable, desperate, and dangerous.”
The CSOs see the motive behind the campaign as an attempt to “silence the dissent, intimidate the opposition, and divert attention from the governor’s abysmal record in office.”
The coalition issued four key demands to Governor Uzodimma: An immediate retraction of the false and defamatory allegations against Professor Mahmood Yakubu and Dr. Chima Amadi.
- A public apology to both men within seven days, to be published in at least three national newspapers and broadcast on major television networks.
- An end to diversionary tactics and proxy propaganda.
- A renewed focus on governance, including addressing insecurity, unemployment, and poverty in Imo State.
The CSOs warned that failure to comply would force them to “review our position with a view to seeking legal redress from Governor Uzodimma for defamation, false accusation, and reckless endangerment of lives.”
“Governor Uzodimma must be reminded that he did not find himself in the seat of power to chase shadows.
“We call on all Nigerians to reject Uzodimma’s diversionary antics as they are nothing short of desperate plots by a government terrified of accountability”, the statement concluded.

Stopping Natasha’s Resumption Threatens Nigeria’s Democracy – ADC
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed concern that preventing the senator from resuming her legislative duties violates democratic principles and disenfranchises her constituents.
“The suspension, having been imposed by the Senate and not a court of law, has lapsed. Any further attempt to prevent her from resuming is therefore both illegal and morally indefensible,” Mallam Abdullahi said.
The party noted that denying Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan access to the chamber silences the voice of the people who elected her, adding that the withdrawal of her salary, aides, and office access during the suspension amounted to excessive punishment.
The ADC also criticised the Clerk of the National Assembly for declining to process her resumption on grounds that the matter was before the courts, arguing that the Clerk’s role was administrative, not judicial.
“Administrative caution must not translate into complicity. When the administrative machinery becomes hostage to political interests, the institution itself is diminished,” the party stated.
Highlighting that Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan is one of only four women in the 109-member Senate, the ADC warned that the handling of the case sends a discouraging signal about gender inclusion in Nigerian politics.
“Any action that resembles gender intimidation of the few women in the Senate would only discourage women’s participation. Nigeria cannot claim to be a democracy while excluding half of its population from key decision-making spaces,” Mallam Abdullahi added.
The ADC insisted that Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan be allowed to resume her seat immediately, stressing that the matter was about more than one individual.
“What is at stake here is not just one Senate seat, but the integrity of our democracy itself,” the party said.
