Rivers CAN Gets New Exco
Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State, now have new executive members to steer the affairs of the association in the state for the next three years.
A statement signed and made available to The Tide by the new Secretary General, Archbishop Emmanuel Ogu, revealed that tof the elections, was the most peaceful, credible and well attended in the history of CAN elections as all the positions were unopposed as offices were zoned as follows:
Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) – The Chairman, Dr Stanley Dimkpa and Director, Women and Education, Elder Timothy Ogbu; Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) – Vice Chairman, Monsignor, Cyprain Owuli and Director Legal/Public Affairs, Rev Fr Mike Akere; Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria/Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN/PFN)- Secretary, Archbishop Emma Ogu and Director Ecumenism, Apostle B.A Isaac; TEKAN/Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA) – Assistant Secretary, Pastor John Odinichi and Director National Issues, Mrs Jamila Danladi; Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) – Treasurer, Dame Sotonye Dumbraye and Director of Planning Research and Strategy (DPRS), Sir Dele Wickliff.
Those that came from the National Secretariat, CAN to supervise the elections included, the secretary, Barrister F.B. Daramola, the Legal Adviser, Barrister Samuel Kwankur, National Executive Member, Bishop Raphael Nwankwo, among others.
Other executive members that accompanied the chairman from the South-South includes: the Vice Chairman, Bishop Gabriel Oton; the South-South Youth Leader, Apostle Godstreasure, the Secretary, Rev Dr Felix Ekiye and Arshbishop Israel Ege.
In his speech, the National Secretary, Barrister Daramola stated that the National President directed that the election be conducted according to the CAN Constitution, hence, the tenure of the past executive expired on December 15th, 2018.
