Bayelsa Rehabilitates Flood Victims
Reprieve finally came to flood victims in Bayelsa State, as the government swiftly intervene and relocated victims to Igbogene camp to house the victims who were hitherto homeless after ben sacked by the rising water level.
The victims have continued to receive support from the government and the organized private sector, with the recent support from the Nigerian Air force Mobility Commands.
In company of the State Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (retired), on behalf of the Air Force Chief, the Mobility Commander, Napoleon Bali presented relief materials to aged men and women, pregnant women and children in the rehabilitation camp.
The items includes: mattresses, blankets, mosquito treated nets, drugs and food items and funds to cushion the pain of being devastated by the flood, as well as properties lost to the flood.
Shortly after the presentation, the State Deputy Governor, John Jonah thanked the Nigerian Air Force Mobility Commander, Napoleon Bali for the donation, saying that it would greatly ease their pains.
Jonah, was emphatic that the most vulnerable in the camp is the pregnant women and children, stressing that the mosquito treated nets would safeguard them from malaria and acute fever, while other accessories would keep them healthy.
He, however, called on others to emulate the gesture, stressing that if every individual, private companies, philanthropists follow sue the victims would we well comforted, while government effort would be greatly assisted.
Earlier, the Air Force Mobility Commander, Napoleon Bali had said that it was the commands idea of given back to support and advance society.
He pointed that the plight of the flood victims was pitiable and elicit support and assistance from all well-meaning Nigerians.
Responding, Madam Joy Kiozide, thanked the Government and the Mobility Command for the presentation, stressing that they are seriously worried by mosquitoes in the camp and the short supply of food and lack of funds.
Continuing, she pointed that with the donation made by the Air Force, their plight would be ameliorated, even as she called on others to emulate the good gesture.
