Rivers Schools Resume, Today …As Parents Charge Teachers On Students’ Security
Both primary and secondary schools in public schools including private owned across Rivers State will resume today for the first term 2018 /2019 academic session. It would be recalled that schools in the state have been in on holidays at the end of the 2018 academic session.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja had in an interactive session held with heads of both public and private schools in the state recently and directed that every school operating within the state must comply with the state government directive.
He warned during the meeting that government would deal decisively with any head of schools both primary and secondary private inclusive who disobey the order.
The state commissioner averred that every private school owner including mission managed schools must comply with the state ministry of Education academic school calendar with a view of promoting certified academic calendar.
Meanwhile, some parents in the state have called on teachers in both private and public schools in the state to be conscious of the security of their students and wards under their custody.
They said the call become important on the recent upsurge in ritual activities and number of missing children across the nation adding application of some security measures would help guarantee security in their various schools in the state.
Mr Chinwendu Nwubi, a parent said there is the need for school owners to interface with the police in the state to ensure adequate security in their various schools across the state.
According to him, as the “earlier” month has set in, many altrocities are always perpetuated during the period, adding that security should be every persons concern.
