Isoko Wants Rotation Of Delta South Senatorial Seat
The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe, says rotation of the senate position in South Senatorial district between Isoko, Itsekiri and Ijaw ethnic nationalities, will foster equity, justice and fair play in the actualisation of true democracy in the present political dispensation.
Amadhe made the statement during the visit of Itsekiri leaders to IDU, at the National Secretariat, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He stated that a joint meeting of traditional rulers, the political class and community leaders from Ijaw, Itsekiri and Isoko be put together to adopt the former rotational method of the South Senatorial seat, which according to him is the solution to the present fourth and fifth agenda of occupying the Senatorial seat.
Amadhe, who condemned such agenda also described it as repugnant, political brigandage and alien to natural justice and equity.
Amadhe maintained that a maximum of two terms for each of the three ethnic groups of Isoko, Ijaw and Itsekiri for the senatorial seat, be strictly adhered to, through agreement and published communiqué.
While analysing the narrative of how the senatorial seat has been, Amadhe urged the leaders of Itsekiri to interact with Ijaw leaders before the joint meeting of the three ethnic groups.
