Union Gives Firm 7-Day Ultimatum Over Industrial Dispute
The United Labour Congress (ULC), Rivers State Council has directed the management of RafoullConstruction Nigeria Limited to resolve the lingering labour issues with members of the National Association of Plant Operators (NAPO) and its staff within seven days from today or be prepared to face a total barricade of the company by members of the union.
The union also called on the State Governor, Chief Nyesom EzenwoWike to as a matter of urgency call to order, the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area of the State, Hon, Lawrence Paul (AKA Stainless) who doubles as the Chief Security Officer to the company to stop harassing and intimidating workers of Rafoull Construction Company, who are demanding for their legitimate rights and entitlements.
The First State Vice Chairman of the United Labour Congress, Comrade Innocent Lord – Douglas gave this ultimatum during a press briefing held by the ULC state working committee in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Douglas opined that the union was unhappy with the on-going inhuman treatment, the management of Rafoull meted on members of NAPO, working in the company who were their affiliates.
He urged the management of the company to take the window of the seven-day grace period given by the union to immediately begin discussions with the state council leadership of NAAPO, with a view to resolving all the labour related lingering issues raised by the union.
