Wike Flags Off Tanker Park Project
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, last Friday flagged off the construction of a N4 billion ultra-modern tanker park in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Wike said the project which was being executed by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) would help the state in generating revenue and also create huge employment opportunities to youths of the state.
Wike said, “This Park will reduce accident, loss of lives and unnecessary inconvenience caused by the indiscriminate parking of tankers” and assured that his administration would continue to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He commended the outgoing President of NUPENG, Igwe Achese, for attracting the project to Rivers State.
The Governor said, “Igwe Achese remembered his state and has attracted a project of this magnitude to improve the condition of the state.
“This is a legacy for Achese and for the people of Rivers State. Anywhere he goes after now, Igwe Achese will be remembered for this edifice. It will improve the economy of the state”.
Wike urged other Rivers leaders in different places of authority to promote the interest of the state and shun all attempts to demark the state.
“It doesn’t matter where you are, work for the benefit of Rivers State. Attract projects that will create opportunities for the people”, the governor stated.
The outgoing President of NUPENG Igwe Achese, expressed joy that the project he initiated has come to function.
He commended Wike for granting the Certificate of Occupancy to NUPENG for the 700 plots of land where the International Tanks Park is being constructed.
He said the project will contain fire station, bank, police station, hotel and banquet hall.
According to him the project will cost N4 billion and called on investors to partner with NUPENG for successful completion of the project.
