An NGO, Anamero Idofe Foundation, yesterday presented 10 wheelchairs to 10 persons living with disabilities at Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo.
Presenting the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries, the founder of the foundation, Mr Dekeri Anamero, called for equal opportunities for the fit and physically challenged persons in the country.
Anamero said that the gesture was part of his corporate social responsibility to such persons.
“The foundation is committed to putting smiles on the faces of the down trodden in the society.
“It is our sincere hope that these wheelchairs will ease the daily endeavours of the beneficiaries,” he said.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to make proper use of the wheelchairs as it would reduce the challenges they were facing in moving around.
He urged the beneficiaries to be focused and determined in the pursuit of their careers, adding that “there is ability in disability’’.
Anamero assured of more support and assistance to host communities, saying the foundation would always be alive to its responsibilities.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Sunday Omoluabi commended the foundation for identifying with them, adding that the wheelchairs would go a long way in improving their lives.
He prayed God to grant the foundation more resources to reach out to more people like them.
“We are grateful to Anamero for the kind gesture. We pray God to grant him the grace to assist more people,” he said.
